Laura Zabala Urrutia

Laura Zabala is an Industrial Engineer with a qualifying MSc specializing in Thermoenergetics from the University of the Basque Country (UPV/EHU) and a Master in Energy Systems from the University of Gävle (Sweden). She has over seven years of experience working as a researcher in energy modelling and optimization. She has worked in multiple European research projects, developing optimal operation and predictive control strategies aimed at enhancing energy efficiency and integrating renewable energy in buildings, energy communities, district heating&cooling systems and thermal-hydraulic installations. She is currently pursuing an industrial PhD with R2M in collaboration with the UPV/EHU, develping a whole optimization startegy for buildings. She is an active member of the international initiative IBPSA BOPTEST (former IBPSA Project 1), where she collaborates in Control-Oriented Modelling tasks.
