Civil Engineer – CACER Specialist

Civil engineer with over 15 years of experience in sustainable construction, energy systems, and applied innovation. Specialized in energy design, technical-economic assessments, environmental modeling, and the development of Renewable Energy Communities (RECs), Caterina Tufano has worked across research, consultancy, project coordination, and strategic planning. She currently serves as a CACER Specialist at R2M Solution, where she leads the strategic and technical development of RECs and collective self-consumption models. Her work focuses on regulatory analysis, operational strategy, and technical support for the Energy Division, contributing to the growth of scalable and replicable energy-sharing solutions. She also collaborates with the Tender Department to improve public and private procurement processes, helping build a decentralized and efficient management system. Throughout her career, she has authored over 15 feasibility studies for the creation of RECs in cooperative, residential, and territorial contexts, working with foundations, consortia, cooperatives, and social enterprises. She was a partner of the RESPIRA team, actively contributing to the establishment of cooperative-based energy communities with an inclusive and locally rooted approach. She has solid experience in strategic planning and proposal development, having supported the drafting of project applications for European programs (UIA, LIFE, INTERREG, H2020), regional initiatives (POR-FESR, PSR Campania), and national calls (POI Renewable Energy). Her contributions include opportunity scouting, partnership analysis, technical writing, and monitoring, with a focus on energy, sustainability, and social innovation. In parallel, she has carried out direct professional assignments for public institutions, including technical support for the Italian Civil Protection Department (post-earthquake emergency housing deployment) and urban planning consultancy for the Municipality of Nola (SIAD update). These experiences deepened her expertise in urban regulation, territorial planning, and technical operations in emergency contexts. She has contributed to national research projects on urban resilience, advanced materials, structural reinforcement, and environmental evaluation (SIMURAI, MAMAS, METROPOLIS, VInCES, SISMA, PRAMACO), gaining proficiency in methodologies such as Life Cycle Cost (LCC), multirisk analysis, and environmental protocols (LEED, ITACA, SBTool). Her academic background (Degree in Civil Engineering for Sustainable Development – University of Naples Federico II) is complemented by strong multidisciplinary collaboration skills, leadership, and technical communication. She is a registered member of the Naples Engineers Association, serves on the Equal Opportunities Commission, and is certified for construction site safety coordination.
