LEGOFIT
Adaptable technological solutions based on early design actions for the construction and renovation of Energy Positive Homes
The LEGOFIT project creates a scalable, smart approach to achieve Energy Performance Housing by integrating passive and active technologies through Building Information Modelling (BIM) for seamless system interoperability.
It combines envelope strategies, HVAC, nature-based solutions, and smart management to deliver climate-neutral, flexible, high-performance buildings while reducing environmental impact by reusing building lifecycle residues.
Tested in multiple demos across varied regions, LEGOFIT targets residential buildings and fosters a professional community with training to develop experts in positive energy housing.
The LEGOFIT accelerates the shift to positive energy homes through a scalable, replicable process demonstrated in 3+ demo sites, focusing on residential multifamily buildings and dormitories. It integrates passive and active technologies into a design platform to achieve climate-neutral performance while promoting sustainability by reusing building residues and enhancing smart readiness.
Key Impacts:
- – Energy Savings: Building energy systems reduce consumption by 60-70% through advanced forecasting and optimization.
- – Efficiency Gains: BIM cuts design time by 30% and lowers project costs by up to 20% by reducing errors.
- – Water Savings: Potential 30% reduction in water use, saving about 3,845 million m³ annually in residential buildings.
- – Sustainability: Supports economic, social, and environmental criteria for smarter, greener buildings.
R2M plays a central role in LEGOFIT as the lead partner responsible for:
- – Scan2BIM methodology and the Digital Building Logbook.
- – Designs advanced building system control strategies using Model Predictive Control (MPC) to optimize energy asset performance and achieve significant energy savings.
- – Develops the optimization framework for the multi-criteria decision-making algorithm.
- – Heads the communication, dissemination, and exploitation work package, managing stakeholder engagement, knowledge sharing, exploitation plans, and intellectual property rights.
