DIGIFAB
Digital Process Chain for Energy Renovations Using Prefabrication
DIGIFAB is transforming Europe’s aging building stock through innovative digital tools, sustainable materials, and occupant-centric renovation methods. The project aims to make renovations faster, more cost-effective, and environmentally responsible.
By integrating advanced digital twins and BIM technology with modular construction, DIGIFAB creates a seamless, end-to-end renovation workflow. This approach addresses current challenges of slow, fragmented processes and high disruption levels.
Supporting EU climate goals, DIGIFAB promotes near-zero energy buildings while making renovation more accessible to property owners and SMEs in the construction sector.
DIGIFAB combines digital twin technology with BIM-driven workflows to create precise, fully digital building models, enabling accurate planning and optimized modular prefabrication. Sustainable, bio-based materials and advanced insulation achieve near-zero energy performance. The occupant-centric approach minimizes noise and disruption through real-time monitoring and streamlined installation, making renovations faster and more user-friendly.
The expected impacts of its technology are:
- – Renovation time cut by up to 70%.
- – Costs reduced by approximately 30%.
- – Noise and on-site disruption lowered by up to 81%.
- – Supports EU climate targets with near-zero energy building standards.
R2M plays a central role in ensuring the DIGIFAB project’s scientific outputs and innovations are effectively communicated, exploited, and managed to maximize impact and uptake.
- – Leads exploitation and commercialization strategy.
- – Oversees dissemination and communication activities.
- – Responsible for data management and the valorization of scientific results.
- – Supports project impact maximization and stakeholder engagement.
