BIO insulation materials for Enhancing the Energy performance of Buildings
BIO4EEB develops and tests four innovative bio-based insulation materials for circular, sustainable renovation of European buildings. These materials suit various building types and align with prefabricated components, market trends, regulations, and stakeholder needs.
Five buildings in distinct climate zones will be tested, evaluating performance on circularity, adaptability, and energy efficiency. The solutions aim to be easy to install and cost-competitive.
All data and results will feed the BIO4EEB platform, providing technical factsheets, best practices, and manufacturer contacts to professionals. The project also promotes knowledge exchange with Latin America and related EU initiatives.
European buildings account for a significant share of energy consumption and CO2 emissions, with renovation rates still too low to meet climate goals. BIO4EEB addresses this by providing bio-based insulation solutions that are easy to design and install in deep renovations.
